There is almost an endless amount of ways that a magnet can be used. Around the house, magnets can be used to do more than just hang important things on the refrigerator! One great way is to pick up stray screws and nails in the garage! One of the best ways to use magnets around the house though is by using a magnetic strip to create a magnetic rack. Because we like them so much, we put together a list of our favorite ways and places to use them!

Magnetic Knife Rack

This rack can be found in many homes and restaurants around the world. Having a knife rack in your kitchen means finding the right blade when needed. How many times have you tried to grab a knife out of the wooden holders only to realize you’ve grabbed the wrong one? Never again thanks to this DIY, which you can read here! 

Magnetic Spice Rack

These are great for freeing up space in the kitchen. You can have this rack in many places, like on the fridge or underneath the cabinets. They also make it much easier to find your favorite spice by making all of the spices visible rather than shoved in the back of the cabinet. Create your own here. 

Magnetic Key Shelf

Let’s face it, whether it was your fault or not, we’ve all lost our keys at least once. Instead of rushing every morning to try and find where you left your keys the night before, simply attach this magnet rack right by the door and hang your keys as soon as you enter the house. At first, it might be hard to remember to put them there, but eventually, it will become a learned habit, like buckling your seatbelt. Create yours here. 

In the Bathroom

You can organize so many things in your bathroom thanks to a magnetic rack. First, attach small-windowed tins to a magnet strip for storage of your easily lost bathroom essentials. The tins make a great place to store things like bobby pins, hair ties, and clips. You can also put small items like nail clippers or tweezers directly on the strip so they’re always handy. One of our favorite magnetic hacks is to attach a small disc magnet, like our 1/4" x 1/16", to your toothbrush, brush, razor, or any other small item to be able to hang them on side of the cabinet. Toy Car Storage

Are you constantly stepping on those Hot Wheels laying around the house? Say no more thanks to a toy car magnetic rack! Just put a magnetic sheet where your children play most often. Then, glue a 3mm x 1mm disc magnet on each car. Kids will like that their cars can now “magically” stick to the wall. Keep in mind that magnets are not toys though so you should follow our magnet safety guidelines carefully. Junk Drawer Items

Across all cultures, it seems we have one thing in common, the junk drawer. It’s not even really junk, it’s all the stuff we have that doesn’t have a spot anywhere else. Like the bathroom supplies, you can put things you’ve been storing in there like paperclips or pins in tins for easy access.
