Mouse traps and magnets — did you know that you can make your own magnetic clips from this unlikely duo? Standard magnetic clips aren’t that appealing, and aren’t as customizable as something you make yourself. Rather than the same, dull metal clips, you can display invitations and grocery lists on your fridge with DIY magnets adorned with a stylish design. Believe it or not, it’s easy to create magnetic clips for your fridge that are both fun and functional with just magnets, mouse traps, some common household supplies, and a little bit of creativity. You’ll need: Directions Step 1 Carefully remove the hardware in the mouse trap with the wire cutters, except for the clip itself. Take extra caution when removing the metal strip in the middle so that the trap doesn’t snap closed on your fingers while you’re working. Step 2 Attach an adhesive-backed neodymium disc magnet to the back of the mouse trap. The adhesive side should be centered and flush against the back of the mouse trap. Step 3 Use sandpaper to remove the printed image on the mouse trap if necessary. If you’re lucky enough to have a mouse trap that doesn’t have a printed logo or has a sticker instead, feel free to skip this step. Step 4 Decorate the front of the mouse trap any way you’d like (make sure the clip isn’t upside down when you do this!) Consider adding your initials in glitter, stamping a design, or adding an image with Modge Podge to further personalize your clip. Decorating Tip: Use a foam letter like a stencil to create an image or monogram with glitter. Use Modge Podge to cover the entire clip in glitter; remove the “stencil” once the clip is dry. You’ll end up with a clip covered in sparkles with your design showing through. Repeat these steps to make a collection of DIY magnetic clips for your fridge! Display important reminders, hang photos, or even make a set of five to create a weekly to do list. How will you use your new magnetic mouse trap clips?
